Bills are Due and Credit Repair is in Place – Distinguishing Between Needs and Wants

Almost everyone will go through the situation when the bills arrive, and the money to pay them isn’t available. When this happens, credit repair is usually required. The good news is that there is almost always a way to get out of debt, so it’s important not to get discouraged. Bills usually include things such as utilities, telephone, credit cards, mortgage, purchases, car payments, and so on. Even though most of these types of bills are necessary, there are things you can do to lower the monthly payments.
Almost everyone needs a vehicle to get to work, but is a brand new car really necessary? If you already have a car payment, you could check into getting your monthly payments lowered, or your insurance policy lowered. If you are confined to a high car payment and see that you can’t make ends meet, selling the vehicle to pay off your loan is always an option, and you can try to resell the car for a higher price than what is owned to make a little extra cash. There are also lenders who will offer extensions on car payments if you just ask for help. Some lenders will even offer a new payment agreement to reduce your monthly installments in order for you to be able to make payments.
The telephone and utilities usually aren’t shut off if you get a month behind in payments. In a situation where you are faced to make either a car payment or a utility payment, it is often better to make the car payment. This will give you time to find a solution for making payments on your telephone and utilities. There are some savings available on the telephone and utilities that you could check into. Senior citizens and low-income families are usually given discounts by these types of companies. Try to keep the services on your phone to a minimal. A lot of the services provided by telephone companies aren’t necessary. If you feel you need extra services, getting a bulk package is usually cheaper than buying services individually.
If you find your income just isn’t enough to make all your payments on time, you might want to look into government organizations that help low-income families pay their bills. Such a company is Social Services, who offer help to families with low-incomes by often paying their utility bills. Help is usually out there if you know where to look. The first moment you realize that you are having financial difficulties is the moment you should start looking for solutions. Finding the solution that is best for you is usually found after you have done your research. Never assume that a company that claims to get you out of debt will actually do so. Getting out of debt is never easy. Always remember that it is easier to get into debt than it is to get out of debt, so when you sign a loan contract make sure that you can meet all of the terms and conditions on the contract.
Watch out for loans that require collateral upfront for the loan. An example of this would be if you apply for a loan and are required to put your car up as collateral. If you get behind in your payments, the company can easily repossess your vehicle. If you put something like your refrigerator up as collateral, the company probably won’t bother repossessing it, but they will probably take you to court. Because you loose freedom with a collateral loan, try to stay away from them.
If your credit is still good enough that you can take out another loan to repay your debt, it’s alright to do so. For example, if you owe $7,000 and take out a loan for $10,000, you can repay your debt and still have $3,000 remaining to put down on the current loan. If this is a solution for you, make sure that the lender you use has low interest rates and low monthly installments. Never be tempted to use extra money you may get for something else other than paying off your debts. If you do this, you will start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
